How can a production studio find the right product file in a large library and move from search to preparation without losing context?

03 / Design rationale

Design is decision.

How the working tools connect finding a product with preparing its files.

Decision 01Search first

Alternative: Browsing a folder tree as the only entry point would require knowing where a product lives.
Direction: Put search above the results and keep categories visible in a fixed side column.
Why it matters: A product can be found by name or narrowed by type before opening its source.

Decision 02Action at the result

Alternative: A plain list of names would still leave the next production step elsewhere.
Direction: Each result carries its category, product identity and direct actions for opening or copying its local folder.
Why it matters: The route from finding a product to working with its files stays short.

Decision 03Connected tools

Alternative: Separate shortcuts for recurring export jobs would fragment the daily workflow.
Direction: Place the icon builder, PDF-to-JPG converter and CorelDRAW CSV preparation beside the catalog controls.
Why it matters: The catalog becomes a starting point for both lookup and common production tasks.

A closer look.

The product catalog is a local Node.js web app generated from the studio’s product structure. The connected utility pages support icon export, PDF conversion and CSV preparation for CorelDRAW. The first screenshot shows the actual interface with sample product names and paths; the two utility screenshots come from the app’s presentation assets.
